Katie Flaskerud, MS, RDN, LDN, co-founder of SFL Nutrition

Katie has worked in the clinical nutrition setting for five years locally in South Florida and now currently resides in Jacksonville where she is continuing her clinical career. Her extensive background ranges from working with clients who have nutrition-related chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart conditions, kidney disease and gastrointestinal conditions, adults and children with food allergies, sports nutrition, prenatal and pediatric nutrition, home nutrition support (enteral/parenteral nutrition), and with individuals undergoing bariatric surgery. She also specializes in oncology medical nutrition therapy and bone marrow transplant for clients with various cancer diagnoses.

As a child Katie struggled with her weight. At a summer camp she learned to eat healthy, discovered her love for exercising, and gained the support she needed to continue living a healthy lifestyle. At Seton Hill University, where she was recruited to play NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse, Katie began to study dietetics and see first-hand the impact quality nutrition had on athletic performance.

Katie, a Maryland native, completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition at Keiser University and graduated from Nova Southeastern University with her Master's Degree. A Registered Dietitian (RDN) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN), she is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Katie loves to help her clients improve their relationship with food. She helps personalize diet recommendations based on her clients’ lifestyle factors and their “food culture" through evidence-based research. She believes that good health begins in the kitchen and that healthy cooking can be easy and convenient for everyone – and fun, too.

Katie loves to cook, spend time outdoors at the beach, or playing and watching sports with family and friends. She is also a fitness advocate and enjoys spinning classes and Orange Theory fitness.
